Promoting British Values
At The Greens-ENS, we are committed to preparing our pupils for life in modern Britain by actively promoting the fundamental British values of:
- Democracy
- The Rule of Law
- Individual Liberty
- Mutual Respect
- Tolerance of Different Faiths and Beliefs
These values are embedded throughout our curriculum, therapeutic approach, relationships, safeguarding culture and daily school life. We recognise that many of our pupils may require additional support to understand social expectations, communication, emotional regulation and community participation, and we therefore teach these values in ways that are meaningful, accessible and personalised.
Democracy
We encourage pupils to express their views, make choices and contribute to school life. Pupils are supported to develop confidence in communicating their opinions, participating in discussions and understanding that every voice matters.
The Rule of Law
Our pupils are supported to understand the importance of rules, boundaries and routines in keeping themselves and others safe. Through consistent expectations, restorative approaches and positive behaviour support, pupils learn about fairness, responsibility and consequences.
Individual Liberty
We promote independence, self-confidence and safe decision-making. Pupils are encouraged to develop self-awareness, make informed choices and understand their rights within a safe and supportive environment.
Mutual Respect
Respect is at the heart of our school community. We foster positive relationships between pupils, staff, families and the wider community. Pupils are taught to value kindness, empathy and consideration for others.
Different Faiths and Beliefs
We celebrate diversity and promote understanding of different cultures, faiths, identities and backgrounds. Through our curriculum, assemblies, enrichment opportunities and everyday interactions, pupils learn to appreciate differences and challenge prejudice or discrimination.
As a school, we are committed to creating a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment where every pupil feels valued, respected and prepared to contribute positively to society.
This statement supports our commitment to safeguarding, equality, SMSC development and the Independent School Standards (ISS).
